re: re: The Oil Coup
Before we begin claiming that the US is going to go into Iraq and kill
"thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians" let's think about what our
President's goal is. Is it to threaten the people of Iraq or to topple a
ruthless dictator who has done more to harm his own citizens than any other
nation has? I don't believe that Bush, nor the American people or
international community really thinks that going in with 400,000 troops like
during the Gulf War II is the answer. The United States does not wish to
ostracize itself from the world community by killing or injuring innocent
Iraqis who are pawns in Hussein's game. I believe we will send highly
specialized, special operations troops in to "neutralize" Saddam and his
regime.
Of course we wish to preserve the vast oil fields of Iraq. But sending in
thousands of ground troops will not be the answer. I have faith that this
operation, if undertaken, will spare Iraqi citizens and still achieve the
goals established by the US or UN
