Consequences of no oil?
Oil drives America. Without oil our existence changes very significantly.
We should develop alternative fuel sources, however that cannot be done
overnight. We should work on development even though we have oil.
However, have we thought of the consequences if we do discover and create an
alternative fuel source before the oil reserves run out. There would be
thousands of unemployed Americans that have families to support. Think also
of the OPEC nations and other oil producing nations that could go bankrupt
with the demise of the oil industry. We always blame the BIG OIL COMPANIES
for preventing the development of alternative fuel etc, but I think there is
more to the big picture. Poor nations that were made rich by oil face the
chance of returning to poverty. It would seem that the Americans would have
the most to gain by creating an alternative fuel source considering our lack
of reserves. I cannot imagine why the American government and oil companies
would be so against research and development. It seems logical that oil
companies could indeed become the developers of such a fuel source.
I was just thinking about the possible consequences. I was brainstorming
ideas in my head. As always I welcome someone else's well reasoned
responses. Let me know where my logic is wrong or right.
Thanks guys
Denyse
