Saudi Arabia

On my way home for Thanksgiving, I was listening to Rush Limbaugh talk about Saudi Arabia. Say what you will about Rush, but he did make some interesting points that were particularly relevant to our class. He believes the historically cozy relationship between the US and the Saudis has nothing to do with our need for Saudi oil. The amount is still substantial, yet he says, as we have learned in this class, that the larger percentages of our imports come from other sources like Venezuela. So his point was that it is not our dependence on Saudi oil that has produced the relationship but it is the Saudis' tremendous reserves and the ability to use them to stabilize world prices. Thought this might be an interesting point worth noting.
